My experience and first week in RedRibbonDays

Well... It has been almost a year since I last blogged. Well now that I'm adding a new entry thanks to RedRibbonDays.

Let's start with the application process of my Internship. We've gone through our Internship Training and Pre-Internship Bootcamp. So I've gone through the company list and sent out applications to about 14 or 15 companies accordingly. Out of those 6 companies got back to me personally through email. I did try applying for big companies like Sunway and Genting but I had to call them to ask about my application. From there, I knew it wouldn't turn out good. So, I continued through the interview sessions and began to evaluate which company would provide me the best working and learning experience I would get.

I gone through all 6 interviews assigned to me. And honestly, RedRibbonDays is the only company with a real proper office up to my expectation. Apart from that, it's the only company that got me stumbling and struggling for words. I felt intimidated for the very first time out of the 6 interviews. Haha... Now Sherin, Nik and Ming Ne would know how I felt actually back then. Those were the reasons I chose RRD for my Internship. It overwhelmed me and I find it as an opportunity to learn from real PROS. Kudos to RRD bosses. Haha...

A lil more detail about what happened. RRD's interview was the last among the 6 interviews. And little to anyone's knowledge in RRD, it was my birthday on the day of interview. I went for another interview early in the morning as well at Ampang. Went to Sunway University for a HRM tutorial and lecture. Half way through the lecture, I asked permission from my lecturer to excuse myself for the interview. A lil confusing while finding my way here. Menara TSH wasn't even in my GPS. I've previously looked into wikimapia and google map but it's pretty tough still. I just simply drive my way through and found Menara TSH.

BUT

just a tiny problem. Menara TSH was on the other side of the road!! I was like OMG!!!!

I panicked for a while but I was like okay, I'm gonna find a u-turn and make my way there. But to my agony, I found out that the road is a tad lil familiar to me. It's the way back to my gf's hometown, Pahang. Then things started to get a lil more adventurous. I went on that way, tried to find a u-turn and managed to find it like 4 kilometers away. Wow? That's not it, when I found the place. I missed the turn to go into the building. It's all fine after I found my way there, parked my car and went up for the interview.

Interview was great as mentioned, accepted the offer right away and went for my exams the next week.

After my exams on 9th of December, I went for a holiday at Genting with my gf at her parent's apartment there. Got back down on 12th and anticipated the very FIRST day of Internship.

Well, didn't really sleep well because I got back late, sugar gliders were noisy all night and I had to wake up early to find my way to work. (I went for interview from my uni, not my home) So it's another set of new routes. I missed the roundabout to Jalan Parlimen but I still got there very early in the morning. 8.15am. Got up at 9am. And I proceed to my workstation. Setup my netbook and get myself familiarised with the new environment. Got to know my fellow colleagues and seniors, Theing and Penny first, Shiva was not in. Nik told me to study RRD's website thoroughly and Sherin did say that she will test me a lil about RRD's website, product and processes. I gotta admit, it's tough to study everything but it didn't take me long to remember some of the key stuffs in the websites like categories and different ranges of vouchers and processes. I even found out about the most expensive experience offered by RRD. Well it is indeed fun working here. Way different than coaching in Sunway Pyramid Ice and my previous temp job at Sunway Pyramid Centre of Management.

That's all about it for today and this time. I'll blog more when I find time in the office. I'll probably talk more about RRD's really cool experiences that they offer.
